The work
Keep the walls. Build the doors.
Medicine, faith and recovery each keep their own room. In this design, nothing is asked of them that they do not already do, and no one walks between them alone.

THE PERSON
the only person who crosses the wall, and only by consent
Walked by an Ambassador, never alone.
The wall runs both ways, and it holds both ways. What each domain does inside its own walls stays its own, under its own standard, answerable to its own discipline. What crosses is only the recognition that they were never treating three people. They were always treating one.
From Book Two, The Answer Is Not the Person
How a person moves through it
1
Walks in any door
A church, a recovery community, a shelter, a clinic. Any door can be the first.
2
Met, not referred
The Ambassador walks the person to the next door.
3
Held
The Ambassador checks back with the person, never with the door.
4
Never a file
What is counted is counted for the community, never the person. No one is named, and there is no file on anyone.
What never crosses
A record, a note, a list or a name.
The rooms of recovery are sanctuary. No meeting is ever a channel, and no door reports to another. Only the person and the recognition cross. The person crosses only by choice.
The doors that connect in
The Refuge, and Breaking the Cycle.
The Refuge is a field hospital. It exists to reach the person nobody else has been able to reach, at the moment nothing else has held.
If you want to find the people that three systems failed at once, do not look in the margins. Look in the cell.
